# The Dream Machine Token (DMT)

The Dream Machine Token (DMT) is the native token of Sanko. DMT has several functions: it powers Sanko games, acts as a medium of exchange, and as a settlement token.

DMT serves as the cornerstone of in-game economies, facilitating transactions and exchanges of value between players, developers, and other stakeholders. Akin to the per-play token of traditional arcades, DMT enables access to in-game features, items, and services.

DMT also serves as the gas token used in all Sanko transactions, underpinning the entire transactional framework of the chain. Every transaction executed on Sanko burns DMT, contributing to its deflationary nature and increasing its scarcity over time. DMT is the backbone of Sanko's transparent transactional infrastructure, and it plays a vital role in ensuring the fairness of user interactions within gaming environments.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.sanko.xyz/usddmt/the-dream-machine-token-dmt.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
